Google recently released its newest flavor of android. The next installment in ANDROID series, android 4.4 version of google's OS. Android 4.4 is more refined and smoother than the later ones. It now has a much polished design, redesigned performance and lots of new features.It now has faster multitasking, improved version of google now etc. In all everything has been redesigned and polished up. Unfortunately for all the Original Galaxy Tab users the updates stopped rolling out at very early stage i.e at gingerbread ( 2.3). Samsung stopped providing further update despite the fact that the 1Ghz processor and that 512 MB of ram can still run the latest OSs smooth enough. Thanx to the openness of android third party custom ROMs are available thanx to some big hearted devs who care about the feelings of a user. Galaxy tab has been refreshed thanx to CM team. They have brought google's latest for us. In this article I will tell you How To Install Android 4.4 on galaxy tab P1000. This method is only for galaxy tab p1000 original version and will not work with other variants.

tested and works just right if followed properly.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Rooted galaxy tab p1000 with a custom recovery like CWM installed. If your tab is not rooted you can follow the link here to for the rooting instructions.
- CM11 custom rom which can be downloaded form this link.
- Google apps package for android 4.4 from here.
- USB cable and a computer with necessary drivers installed.
PLEASE CHECH THAT YOUR TAB IS 60% CHARGED BEFORE FOLLOWING THE PROCESS OTHERWISE THE TAB ME SHUTDOWN BETWEEN PROCESS WHICH CAN CAUSE SERIOUS HARM OR BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
INSTRUCTION:
- Download the cm11 custom rom .zip file from the link provided above and transfer it to your tablet via usb cable. Transfer it to the root of your sd card or to a place where you can easily locate it.
- Download the Gapps package from the link provided and transfer it as well.Transfer it to the root of your sd card or to a place where you can easily locate it.
- Now disconnect your tab and reboot your tablet into recovery mode by holding the power button + volume up button.
- Now use your volume buttons for navigation and power button for selection and wipe data/ factory reset your tab and clear the cache partition.THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT.
- Now go to install zip from sd card and select the CM11 zip file select it and wait for a few minutes until it is flashed. Now repeat the same to flash Gapps.
- Now again do a wipe data/factory reset. Then REBOOT AND ITS DONE. NOTICE that the first reboot takes about 15-20 minutes so wait.
THE ROM WILL HAVE SOME BUGS AS ITS STILL UNDER DEVELOPEMENT BUT I HVE USED IT AND THOSE MINOR BUGS WILL ALSO BE GONE SOON!!:) ENJOY!!

yes you can.. just find the instructions for rooting and installing CWM on galaxy tab p1000 on ANDROID 2.2.
Deleteor you can update to 2.3 via OTA and follow the instructions in the post.
What does it do to battery useage?

ReplyDeleteI have the cdma sph-p100 that has 4.2.2 that said it would only work for p1000 but the OS is working fine. I know the risk of trying to install v4.4 but has anyone successfully installed this on a sph-p100?
